Results of questionnaire

After accumulating all of the information that I needed from the questionaires I converted the numerical information into pie charts and they have been posted below this blog. This would make it easier for me to evaluate what trends are present and therefore what people would like to see more or less of. For instance, in the pie chart for colour schemes it is evident that the majority would like to see red, white and black used in my rock magazine. It is then up to me to decide whether I want to conform to these trends, or I could perhaps go against them and try something less conventional. In terms of the hue of the colours that will be used the majority of my participants claimed that they do not think it is important to use bright colours, therefore I shall use bright colours but very sparingly so that the whole of my magazine does not look overly bright & out of place with the genre of rock. I will not be using an instrument on the cover of my magazine as my results indicate that this is not essential & I would like to go against the trend of using an insturment as it is a very obvious way of conveying the genre of a magzine. The majority of my participants claimed that in terms of a rock stars appearance, a grungy appearance would be favoured. However, I plan to go against this as I am aiming to portray a more cool image. This is because is many rock magazine today rock stars are made to look rebellious or weird/insane but never really calm & cool which is what I aim to show in my magazine. I will definetly be using a freebie in my magazine as the majority of my participants said that this was a good idea & I agree with this because as my target audience are young, I feel that they would really appreciate to get something that they like for free.
I will be using a simple layout for my magazine as I feel that this will be more effective in keeping with the conventions of a rock magazine as I have seen this layout being used in many rock magazines. My results also support this.
In terms of using an adventurous typeface, many of my participants have said that it is a significant factor in appealing to them up to a certain point. I will intergrate simple typefaces with more inventive ones when I create my front cover e.g for my masthead, cover lines etc. This will give variety but also not make the magazine look over the top.
Interestingly, the majorty of my particpants claimed that they would prefer to see a male model on the cover of my magazine as opposed to a female. However, I am going to go against this trend as I feel that the view of only men being associated with rock is quite sexist. The reasons for this view is in part down to the mass media, who portray women as being weak, conformist, sex objects & I wish to go against that convention.
