Introduction of main task

For the main task of my AS level media coursework I must create the front page of a new music magazine. In addition to this, it's contents page and a double page spread. A requirement for this task is that I include a minimum of four pages. The genre that I have chosen for this music magazine is rock. The skills that I have in order to acheive this task are an insight into the basic requirements that should be apparent on any magazine, due to the prior research that I have conducted for the preliminary task. The skills that I need to create and expand on are my knowledge of the program Photoshop as in the preliminary task I did not use Photoshop as my main source for producing my front cover. This was because I had difficulties in manouvering the applications on the program. It is essential for me to gain these skills for my main task as in order to create a high quality magazine front cover, it must look proffessional and Photoshop can aid in making my front cover look as such. In order to create a magazine that is appealing and relevant to my target audience I will have to conduct research on music magazines which will comprise of me finding two existing music magazine front covers, contents pages and double page spreads. With these I will produce annotation and this will give me an insight into what grabs a readers attention and what is relevant to whom e.g. whether rock magazines use a lot of bright colours or not. I will then dwelve into audience theories and comment on one specifc theory and show how this is relevant to my magazine by explaining the theories ideology.
